Abstract

For the purpose of further growth in aviation, additional capacity is necessary. Simultaneously the meaning of environmental protection increases in aviation too. Therefore this thesis aims for the comparability of different capacity enhancing measures at airports in terms of their environmental impacts. Main parts of the paper are the depiction of the legal background, of capacity enhancing measures at airports and the development of an evaluation matrix. Environmental impacts of different measures are put in relation to each other in the evaluation matrix. It composes of relevant environmental indicators and their weighting factor. Possible environmental aspects of an organisation are first collected and then tested in terms of their influence by capacity enhancing measures for the determination of relevant environmental indicators. The weighting bases on criteria for the assessment of environmental impacts. The relevant environmental indicators are examined and classified regarding these criteria. The theoretical concept is applied practically by the example of reduced seperation.
