Abstract

From the perspective of flight guidance, the development of laterally segmented or curved approach procedures that allow for rerouting around congested areas is a promising strategy for coping with noise issues. To help pave the way for independent operations of segmented approaches at airports with parallel runway systems, an elementary safety concept is summarized in this work. Moreover, a procedure design developed to participate from benefits of laterally segmented approach procedures will be presented and evaluated with respect to capacity implications.
