Abstract
The poor electrical conductivity of the material causes additional cost and weight in modern CFRP airframes. This paper describes a possibility to improve the conductivity in thickness direction. NCFs are widely used as reinforcement textiles in laminates produced in infusion technologies. The knitting yarn holding the fibre layers together can be made electrically conductive by silver coating. In order to demonstrate the potential of this technology, textiles reflecting the electrical properties of NCFs with conductive knitting yarn were produced at lab scale.
