Abstract

This technical note summarizes the results of the mode design and the performance analysis for the wide ScanSAR mode for TerraSAR-X and TanDEM-X satellites. The outline of this technical note is as follows. Chapter 3 recaps ScanSAR and shows example parameters for the TerraSAR-X case. In chapter 4 the analyses of the following chapters are motivated and an overview of the mode and beam design is given. Chapter 5, 6 and 7 focus on resolution, ambiguities and noise characteristics, respectively. From these results commanding parameters for wSC are derived. In chapter 8 the achievable scene extent is discussed. A validation of the mode and beam design is described in chapter 9 using acquisition simulations. Real image data is analyzed in chapter 10. The document is summarized in chapter 11.
