Abstract

This technical note summarizes results of a performance analysis for the Staring Spotlight mode for TerraSAR-X and TanDEM-X satellites. The outline of this technical note is as follows. Chapter 3 describes the staring spotlight mode and its limitations due to hardware constraints on-board TerraSAR-X and TanDEM-X. In chapter 4 the ambiguity performance is analyzed, leading to the selection of appropriate pulse repetition requencies in chapter 5. The achievable scene extents in range and azimuth as well as necessary commanding margins are analyzed in chapter 6. Finally the derived staring spotlight mode parameters are validated by acquisition simulations in chapter 7 and image data analysis in chapter 8. A summary and conclusion is given in chapter 9.
