Abstract
This paper describes the aerodynamic flight control system for the hypersonic flight experiment SHEFEX II. SHEFEX is a program of the German Aerospace Center with the aim to develop technology for future re-entry flight vehicles, with a special focus on the thermal protection system. SHEFEX II is an experimental hypersonic flight vehicle, equipped with an active aerodynamic flight control system. This paper describes the development of this flight control system and gives an overview about the flight test campaign in 2012.
