Abstract

This volume contains results from the German research initiative ComFliTe (Computational Flight Testing) combining multidisciplinary simulation development activities from DLR, universities and aircraft industries. The main objective of the three-years project was to extend numerical simulation capabilities in flight physics to challenging off-design conditions. Activities were focused on improved physical modelling for seperated flows, advanced numercial algorithms for series computations and sensitivity predictions, surrogate and reduced order modelling for aero data production, robust fluid/structure/flight mechanics coupling procedures, efficient handling of aircraft control surfaces and simulation of manoeuvres such as gust encounter. The improved numercial simulation capabilities were demonstrated by several industrial applications.
