The DLR TAU-code comprises different methods for prediction of laminar-turbulent transition. One of these methods is the correlation-based Gamma-Rethetat transition model of Menter and Langtry. Within the last years, the model was implemented into TAU and further developed. This report summarizes this work by starting with a short introduction into boundary-layer theory and transition mechanisms. Afterwards, the correlation-based Gamma-Rethetat transition model is introduced and its properties are described in detail. Based on this detailed analysis, the Gamma-Rethetat-CF transition model was developed by the author to extend the original model for prediction of transition due to crossflow instabilities. The main idea for the extension and the implementation of the approach into TAU is given. Finally, the basic assumptions and limitations of the model as well as the potential for improvement are identified and discussed.
