The „Deutsche Flugsicherung“ (DFS) aims at implementing a Remote Tower Center (RTC) for the remote control of three airports. For this purpose two experimental studies were conducted to investigate the feasibility of the operational concepts with regards to the human factors metrics of workload, situational awareness, and safety.
