Abstract

This document presents a hierarchy of preconditioning techniques embedded into a multistage Runge-Kutta method applied to approximate steady state solutions of high Reynolds number viscous flows. The method is used as smoother in an agglomerated multigrid method. Different ways are suggested to construct coarse grid levels and coarse grid equations. Finally several of the possible combinations are suggested and investigated. Numerical examples demonstrate the superiorities and inferiorities of some of these methods.
