Abstract
The overall safety of the railway traffic depends on the technical safety as well as on the operators. The Validation of new approaches and systems must focus on both, the system and on the interaction with the operators. A general purpose test facility for train control systems is presented. The on board unit and the trackside subsystem of the train control system can be simulated or tested as Hardware-in-the-loop compo-nent. The physical train and the railway network is substituted by simulators. For the validation of the opera-tional safety manual tests can be used as well as predefined test sequences.
