Abstract

The content of the lecture is as follows: Repetition of selected elements of fluid dynamics with emphasis on bluff body aerodynamics and unsteady flow phenomena – Presentations concerning generic bluff bodies like cicular cylinder, Tacoma- and Belt bridge-section; Basics of flow induced vibrations; Reynolds Number effects; Measurement of steady and unsteady forces using piezoelectric balances; (Table) demonstrations of flow induced vibrations (D-Profile, Tacoma section).
