Abstract

This document presents a description of the developed algorithm for the generation of an X-Band backscattermap from the quicklook images acquired with the Terrasar-X satellite. It contains a theoretical analysis of the complete algorithm and its high-level implementation, showing the preliminary results obtained for the generation of a global backscatter map over the whole earth, for each polarization channel (HH, VV, HV) and different incidence angles. Finally, some future improvements and possible scientific applications of the backscatter map are presented.
