Abstract
This report gives a compilation of the results and the present status of the project on " SMOS Level-1 Processor Study with Emphasis on Image Reconstruction". The report is divided into two parts due to editorial reasons. The first part gives a general overview on the project and addresses the problem of image reconstruction for aperture synthesis radiometers. The second part investigates the influences and impacts on the received signals generated by the atmosphere, the ionosphere, and the galactic background.
