Abstract

Volume decorrelation is a phenomenon affecting SAR interferometric coherence images in presence of forests or buildings. “Resolving” this effect could lead to an estimation of the height of the observed distributed scatterers. An empirical method is here suggested to distinguish volume decorrelation due to random volumes (like trees) and stationary distributed targets (like man-made artifacts) when polarimetric SAR data are used.
