Abstract
This document starts from a criticality analysis of the TanDEM-X system concentrating on safety issues arising from the interference/interaction of the two satellites flying in formation. It identifies critical subsystems and components of the TanDEM-X ground segment and describes the special treatment of such items. Excluded are safety issues arising from the operation of each of the satellites on its own. These issues are considered to be satisfactory handled by nominal design and established procedures.
