TanDEM-X Mission Operations Concept Document

Abstract

This document identifies the required operational processes for the TanDEM-X mission and how they shall be achieved by the different ground segment elements (including operations personnel). It is a precursor document for the elaboration of detailed requirements for the ground segment and operations. The domain of mission operations covers the ground segment and those parts of the space segment which are of relevance to mission operations. The ground segment comprises two main components: • Ground operations organisations, which comprise the human resources performing the mission operations tasks and preparing the mission operations data (for example; procedures, documents, mission parameters, mission description data) • Ground systems elements, which comprise the major ground infrastructure elements used to support the preparation activities leading up to mission operations, the execution of the mission operations themselves, and all post-operational activities. The mission operations concept elaborates the ground segment engineering tasks and operations teams involved in the operations processes of planning, execution, evaluation, exploitation, and support during the ground segment life-cycle phases incorporating Launch & Early Orbit, Commissioning, Operational, Emergency, and Disposal activities.
