Abstract

At the DLR Institute of Aerodynamics and Flow technology two different types of CFD codes dedicated to aerodynamic applications have been developed. These are the block-structured FLOWer-code and the unstructured TAU-code. Currently the TAU-code is extended by structured algorithms to the TAUijk-Code in order to combine the advantages of both codes. Within this report structured algorithms of the TAUijk-code are compared with the corresponding unstructured algorithms of the TAU-code. In particular these are the dissipation scheme in the case of a central discretization scheme, implicit residual smoothing algorithms and in the context of the multigrid scheme a structured first-order interpolation scheme for the prolongation operator. Additionally the extension of the TAU data structure that is required to implement structured algorithms are described.
