Abstract

This paper addresses the problem of designing residual generators with least dynamical order to solve a class of fault detection and isolation problems. The main computational ingredients are discussed for the determination of least order residual generators achieving a desired fault-to-residual influence matrix. An application of the proposed techniques to the pitch axis actuator fault monitoring for a Boeing 747 aircraft is presented.
