25 nations for an aerospace breakthrough - UAVNET, CAPECON and USICO

Abstract

These projects were established to promote the use of Autonomous Aircraft for Civilian Applications. They permit to study the issues related to this industry by evaluating the potential applications, defining suitable configurations and systems for these requirements, determining how to make these cost-effective and safe, and developing recommendations for their safe operation and acceptance by the relevant authorities. The vision of the partners, representing industry, research institutes and academic institutions throughout Europe, is that the technology research involved, the development of suitable autonomous aircraft systems, the establishment of the necessary production facilities and their operation, will provide an opportunity for all 25 European nations to become more deeply involved in aerospace. The scalar character of the systems required to perform these applications will assure that all the European nations will be able to participate in this pan-European effort.
