Abstract

This report summarizes results of the validation of unsteady CFD methods and of the development of Viscous-Inviscid Interaction (VII) methods. The methods are tested in the computation of steady and unsteady flow about selected transonic test cases with strong viscous effects, namely the NLR7301 airfoil with oscillatory pitch and flap motion and the pitching LANN wing. The developed 2D and 3D VII methods are based on an inviscid Full Potential (FP) solver coupled with an integral boundary layer method, the validated inviscid solvers are 3D FP and Euler methods. All computations were carried out on boundary fitted grids, generated by the algebraic- elliptic grid generator AENGUS of the institute. The 3D LANN wing grid was usd by the other partners within the ECARP/VII task and within the workshop with Helishape as a mandatory grid.
