Abstract

The European Transonic Wind tunnel (ETW) is a recently-built transonic wind tunel. During the start-up phase of the wind tunnel, high vibration amplitudes were stated at the derivative balance. The sources of this vibration should be investigated by means of experimental modal analysis. Therefore, vibration tests were performed in the wind tunnel during stillstand. The test performance and results are described in this report. The results are interpreted and indications of possible sources for the operational vibration are given. Recommendations for improvement and further investigations are included.
