Among the most ambitious and also advanced european projects dealing with the hybrid laminar flow technology figures the A320 laminar fin programme which has been initiated some years ago by Airbus Industrie in close cooperation with ONERA and DLR. A very important step in this programme which is now in its final phase devoted to the evaluation of the concept by flight tests, was the previous one aiming at the wind tunnel demonstration. The achievement of this phase was based on tests in the ONERA S1MA wind tunnel with a 1/2 scale model of the A320 fin equipped with a suction system into the leading edge and an ALT-avoidance device on the leading edge near the root. With this model, which has been provided by DLR, it was possible to carry out tests in S1MA at cruise conditions with inflight Reynolds numbers.
