Abstract

Two different Euler codes developed by DLR (using a chimera scheme) and ONERA (using a multi-block moving grid approach) for calculations of multibladed rotors in forward flight with wake capturing are compared and assessed using tow common test cases for which the experimental data for pressure coefficient are available at several blade sections. The test cases are the 3-bladed ONERA model rotor with PF1 tip and the 4-bladed 7AD model rotor designed by ECF. For both test cases, high advance ratios are considered with a transonic regime on the advancing blade side and the blades are subject to flapping and cyclic pitch motions. For the 3-bladed ONERA model rotor the predicted pressure distributions of both codes are in overall good agreement. Considering that Euler calculation do not account for viscous effects and that blades are rigid, the predicted surface data.
