Abstract
The development of software for vehicle dynamics at DLR is presented in a brief survey. One of the software products, the program MEDYNA which is primarily designed for the dynamics of rail-guided vehicles is introduced with its main features. Two examples, representing current problems in railway dynamics demonstrate the performance of this simulation tool. The first example is connected with a typical noise problem of high-speed railway vehicles, when uneccentric rotating wheelsets excite vibrations in the acoustic range. The second example deals with derailment problems for slow running freight cars in s-shaped curves.
