Abstract
Ground vehicle dynamics requirements for computer aided model building and theoretical problem solving are discussed. The discussion provides the background for a brief accoung of a survey of available codes and of the setting up and solving of benchmark problems. The activity was organised through the International Association for Vehicle System Dynamics. Two problems are from rail vehicle dynamics while two relate to road vehicles most closely. Conclusions on the codes themselves and on the procedures and difficulties in surveying and benchmarking them are drawn.
