Abstract
In this paper we investigate the problem of designing a high-performance drive for two-phase PM stepper motors. A nonlinear control is used for a reference-frame transformation. Instantaneous torque can then be controlled in the reference frame to permit the fastest possible response and the elimination of torque ripple.
