Kurzfassung
Ergonomics is inherently based on disciplinary integration: a compulsory condition to lead the systemic understanding and improvement of real-world complexities like the ones of Human-Robot Interactions (HRIs). Accordingly, this chapter ponders the contributions of diverse disciplines to the study of human factors alongside their synergies with the multi-faceted area of robotics. Key examples are presented, considering problems requiring approaches like bio-inspired soft robotics, value-sensitive design, interactions and affective features, and neuroergonomics in HRI. The implications about education on HRI ergonomics are also pondered. Overall, this chapter remarks how diverse backgrounds can lead to contributions to the human-centered design and assessment of robots if the experts, regardless of disciplinary boundaries, just focus on learning novel perspectives and methods to solve the problems occurring in Human-Robot Systems.
