Abstract
In this paper, we investigate an OFDM-CDMA overlay system. It has to continuously monitor the licensed system's frequency allocations and broadcast the used subchannels to all overlay terminals. In order to reduce the signaling overhead we study the effects on system performance when the receiver is using an inaccurate allocation vector. From these results we derive criteria by which the transmitter can decide whether or not it is necessary to broadcast an update of the allocation vector.
