Kurzfassung
Currently, pilot training for light aircraft mainly relies on real airplanes which entails several ecological and economic disadvantages. Mixed-Reality (MR) technologies present a promising approach for the development of new training devices: Effective and flexible flight simulators at significantly lower costs can be developed. The current study aims at evaluating the training effectiveness of MR-simulators. Flight students undergoing regular training in a light aircraft will be compared with students performing part of their training in a MR-simulator. Multiple performance indicators and covariates are considered. In the current contribution, the study concept and first descriptive results for the control group are presented. The MR-simulator is still under construction and will be available for data assessment in autumn 2026 the earliest.
