Abstract
Airplane seals have to deal with the air's fluid inertial force while maintaining shape, e.g. to ensure tight and contour-fitting closing of a high-lift wing. We are showing the acoustics of an airplane's flap cove seal. The seal is initially operated in normal conditions, will then be excited and finally pushed to the verge of destruction.The experimental study was conducted at the Aeroacoustic Wind Tunnel Braunschweig in July 2025 as part of the EU project FALCON.
