Abstract

This report summarises the findings and recommendations of the RTG AVT-299 activity on "Assessment of Anti-Icing and De-Icing Technologies for Air and Sea Vehicles". During this RTG activity, the technical team members conducted a critical review and assessment of a number of current and emerging technologies related to icing and ice risk mitigation with application to military air and sea vehicles in mind. Four focus technology areas (topics) were covered in this activity and state-of-the-art and recommendations are provided for each of the four focus areas. The four topics are; Ice Detection Technologies, Ice Protection Technologies, Computational Modelling and Simulation Methods and Experimental Icing Facilities.
