Abstract

This paper examines the design of a high aspect-ratio wing using shape and sizing variables across various aspect ratios aiming to find an optimal compromise. By influencing spanwise loading through local jig twist and elastic properties, the paper explores how these factors affect wing design, including structural mass, cruise drag, and in-flight twist. The objective is to maximize the range varying shape and sizing parameters while constraining structural strength, stability and manufacturing.
