Abstract
The adoption of new materials and technologies is essential to reduce cooling requirements and energy waste in a military aero-engine. This study analyses the potential benefits of a CMC HPT vane, from 0D engine performance to 2.5D vane internal cooling. The design is compared against a state-of-the-art metallic counterpart. Finally, parametric studies provide insight into the effects of material properties, pre-design parameters, and operating conditions on cooling requirements.
