Abstract

Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations play anever-increasing role in the design and optimization of turbomachinerycomponents. The CFD code TRACE (Turbomachinery Research Aerody-namic Computational Environment) is developed by the German Aero-space Center (DLR) and is DLR’s standard solver for internal flows aswell as in industry use by MTU Aero Engines and Siemens Energy. Upto this point TRACE was only partly analyzed using an event tracingapplication. In this paper the first efforts in profiling, tracing and ana-lyzing TRACE using the tools Score-P, Vampir, and Cube as well as thesubsequent improvements are shown. The analysis moves from the easypickings to a deeper look at the communication patterns.
