Creating Empathic Interfaces with GenAI

Abstract

This workshop aims to design advanced empathic user interfaces for interactive systems, with a focus on enhancing human-computer interaction in various domains. By incorporating model-based approaches for understanding human emotion regulation, the goal is to improve user experience and system interaction. A distinctive aspect of this workshop is the integration of generative artificial intelligence (AI) tools into the design process. Participants will explore generative AI’s potential in crafting context-sensitive responses and its influence on user experience and interface design. The agenda includes brainstorming diverse use-case scenarios, developing emotion-oriented intervention strategies, and rapid prototyping with AI tools. Expected outcomes include practical prototypes of affective user interfaces and valuable insights into the role of AI in designing effective human-machine interactions. This workshop aims to advance the design of empathic interfaces, making digital systems more accessible, intuitive, and engaging.
