Abstract
Urban Air Mobility (UAM) is expected to effectively complement the existing transportation system by providing fast and safe travel options. To become a reality, the UAM system needs to be designed carefully in order to be safe, affordable, accessible, environmentally friendly and economically viable. The project “HorizonUAM - Urban Air Mobility Research at the German Aerospace Center (DLR)” provides first answers to this vision by pooling existing competencies of individual institutes within DLR and combines the research about UAM vehicles, infrastructure, services, as well as the public acceptance.
