Abstract

In this work, we assess a wall-modeled LES strategy for a discontinuous Galerkin spectral element method adopted from Frere and present results for a periodic channel flow at Re = 2003 and a transonic compressor cascade at Re = 1.4×1e6. For simplicity, the WMLES simulations are based on constant velocity sampling locations at the bottom of the second high-order element. The cascade is simulated using wall-resolved LES, underresolved WRLES, WMLES and a mixed boundary condition (zones of low-Reynolds and wall function) to evaluate the effect of the wall-model on the transitional boundary layer characteristics.
