Abstract

Mobility is a key need of modern society. However, with current developments in climate change, a shift towards more sustainability is necessary also in this sector. The key factor to drive this change is that (sustainable) technological developments are not only realized, but also accepted by the human user. One research area that thrives to work towards user’s acceptance of innovative sustainable mobility solution, but also currently available public transport, is affective computing, which tries to recognize a user’s emotions in real-time to offer help or solutions. Affective computing is based on (neuro-) physiological and expression data that is collected during a journey. The aim of using affective computing in transportation is to detect moments in which things do not go as expected by the user and to develop the transportation system accordingly.
