Abstract

In recent years, Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) research has seen a shift towards systems with multiple transmit/receive channels and digital beam-forming capabilities. This development enables the conception of innovative new imaging modes such as the Scan-OnReceive (SCORE) technique, which facilitates high-resolution wide-swath concepts with multiple frequency-dependent elevation beams. Within the scope of this Master Thesis, the Finite Impulse Response (FIR) filters and algorithms used for the SCORE method will be investigated with regard to the quantization of the data, the update rate of the coefficients and the influence of error effects. For this purpose, a simulation environment for the SCORE digital beam-former has been implemented. This simulator is used to show the expected performance impact of various filter parameters in order to prepare an implementation of SCORE on a ground based hardware demonstrator.
