Abstract
The ResponDrone platform is a situation awareness system-of-systems with separate components working together to support first response missions. One of its core parts is the traffic and mission management component providing the connection between the end-user interface and technical components. Since no detailed UAV knowledge is required by the end-user, traffic and mission management of the different UAV missions needs to be mostly automated. The traffic and mission management component is responsible for exchanging information among the expert components that make up the ResponDrone system-of-systems as well as the verification of missions and mission routes. In this paper, we describe the architecture and capabilities of the traffic and mission management component. In addition, we focus on how this component handles possible conflicts, and we demonstrate how solutions are applied in different scenarios in a way that makes the ResponDrone system a reliable solution for first responders during large-scale crisis situations.
