Kurzfassung
Instead of checking structures at regular intervals during a maintenance, future structures will be equipped with online monitoring systems. Many technologies are applicable for this purpose. For thin walled structures, ultrasonic guided waves are very promising. A wide variety of damages with different sizes have been located with this technology in experiments as well as field tests. To bring it into a real-world application a statement of performance is necessary. Meaning at which probability a damage with a specific size can be located at a specific location. To generate such statistical models for an arbitrary structure brings experimental methods to its limits. Validated numerical analysis tools have to be used. In this lecture a benchmark between two numerical methods will be presented.
