Abstract

This report summarizes the current state of work regarding the optimization of welding parameters of ultrasonic spot welding (USW), continuous ultrasonic welding (CUW) and static resistance welding (RW). These fusion bonding technologies were chosen for the integration of stringers, frames, frame couplings, clips and cleats for the overall assembly of the Multifunctional Fuselage Demonstrator (MFFD) upper shell. Within this report welding setups for the manufacturing of coupons corresponding to the chosen welding technologies, the test execution and its results are described and set in context with phased array ultrasonic scans and destructive single lap shear testing according to DIN EN 2243-1 (AITM 1-0019).
