Abstract

The present report describes the work performed by University of Kassel, Lightweight Structures and Structural Mechanics Laboratory, and DLR, Institute of Aeroelasticity, within the GARTEUR Helicopter Action Group HC AG-14 on "Methods for Refinement of Structural Dynamic Finite Element Models". The main purpose of HC AG-14 is to explore methods and procedures for improving finite element models through the use of error location, model updating and dynamic testing. The approaches are applied to a Lynx helicopter test bed. The work described in the present report is related to Phase 1 and Phase 2 of the Action Group Programme Plan. It includes requirements and assessment for updating methodology and for shake test performance as well as a first correlation and recommendations for further test planning.
