Abstract

This study was performed in order to demonstrate the feasibility of representing structures with thermoelastic properties in multibody dynamics. The analysis process was set-up in a way which is in principle capable for industrial use as well. The specific task consisted of the analysis of the dynamical behaviour of a tooling machinery which is additionally subjected to thermal loads caused by linear induction drives. The simulation scenario was based on the assumption that the feed drives of the tooling machinery repeat their predefined path periodically. After a sufficient time period the resulting temperature field can be assumed to be stationary. This steady thermal state and the corresponding displacement state of the machinery base frame were evaluated by means of finite element analysis. Together with eigenforms, these modes were transferred into the multibody description of the machinery. Finally the dynamical simulation of the tooling machinery was performed. Thus, this report presents the set-up and the results of a multibody simulation scenario, which not only considers the elastic displacement field but also a spatial inhomogeneous temperature distribution of a complex structure.
