Abstract

During the development of spacecraft it is required to precisely determine their inertia parameters. For this purpose a special method has been developed which identifies the inertia parameters from base excitation test data. In order to further investigate and improve the identification method, tests with different structures, a simple Cuboid and the laboratory-type test structure Clumod, have been carried out. This report first describes the test structures and generates analytical and experimental reference data. Then the test setup and the performance of the tests are described. The base excitation was realized with the six axis vibration simulator MAVIS. Interface forces were measured with special Force Measurement Device. Based on the utilized measurement equipment the accuracy of the test data is estimated. The test data evaluation, data processing and detailed test results will be documented in a following report.
