Abstract
This paper for a special session on Mechatronics at the IAVSD Symposium in Pretoria, S.A. serves as an introduction to the theme as well as a summary of the 4th Herbertov Workshop held in May 1999. After motivating the topic, the terminology is explained and the main issues and results of the workshop are reported.
