Abstract

Towards a network of robotic, cost-effective flight-simulators

DLR is developing a cost-effective Diamond DA42 Full-Flight simulator together with the industry partners Grenzebach, Diamond Aircraft and KUKA, utilizing components of the shelf, like industrial robot arms, consumer grade projection systems and tablet PCs for simulation control. With the reduction of costs and the increased number of simulated training hours possible on certified Full-flight simulators, these systems become more and more attractive for general aviation flight training.
