Abstract
One challenge of the ramp-up of e-mobility is that many people fear that their electric car might be out of charge before reaching the destination. The second challenge is the additional loading of the power grid. The project eLISA-BW proposes and implements an intelligent charging system to address those challenges. Charging infrastructure is added to existing charge points in a municipal car park. The main task of the intelligent charging system is to prevent overload of the power grid during the charging processes. The main user of this charging infrastructure is the regional council with its car fleet. In operation is a mix of different vehicle types, most of them are diesel and plug-in hybrid vehicles (PHEV) and further on battery electric vehicles (BEV). The first step of the project was the evaluation of the fleet usage data and their potential for further electrification.
