Abstract

The DLR Earth Sensing Imaging Spectrometer (DESIS) is a hyperspectral instrument which is successfully operating and which is mounted on the Multiple User System for Earth Sensing (MUSES) platform on the International Space Station (ISS) since August, 2018. It has been developed by the German Aerospace Center (DLR) and is operated under collaboration between Teledyne Brown Engineering (TBE) and DLR. DESIS provides hyperspectral image data for Earth Observation in the wavelength range from visible to near-infrared with high spectral and spatial resolution and near global coverage. To demonstrate and ensure the sensor stability and image quality the radiometric and spectral characteristic of the instrument has to track over the mission time. DESIS has integrated a calibration unit based on LED technology for measuring of radiometric and spectral properties. The inflight spectral and radiometric measurements are performed each week. In the paper the results of these measurements over the first year in orbit will be presented. The changes of dark signal non-uniformity (DSNU), photo response non-uniformity (PRNU) and spectral mapping will be analyzed and shown.
